The story of John and
Laura Lee Potter with
their dream and vision
of the “Potter’s House
of Miracles,” touched
many people’s hearts
during the course of
2006-2007.
It all began
five years ago, when the
Potters were blessed
with a set of
quadruplets. Their
fragile children were in
dire need of quality
care which they received
at University Health
Systems of Eastern
Carolina’s Children’s
Hospital. In gratitude
of such remarkable care
and dedication their
tiny babies received,
the Potters had a dream
that all families and
children received the
same quality care, and a
vision of a way to do
just that. To make their
dream a reality, the
Potters built a
beautiful home and
donated the proceeds,
upon the sale of the
house, to Children’s
Miracle Network
benefiting University
Health Systems’
Children’s Hospital.
After the completion of
the “Potter’s House of
Miracles,” the Potter’s
realized that although
the project was a great
success, they found that
it was a lot of work and
energy from start to
finish. Making it,
impossible for the
Potter’s to turn this
project into an annual
occurrence.
With both John and Laura
Lee being active members
in the Greenville-Pitt
County Home Builders
Association (GPCHBA)
they decided to join
forces. The GPCHBA
inspired by this
opportunity, came to a
decision to follow in
the Potter’s footsteps,
keeping their story and
generosity alive by
taking on this
heart-felt project and
continuing it year after
year, calling it, the
GPCHBA’s “House of
Miracles.” The GPCHBA is
dedicated to carrying on
this tradition and
motivated to giving back
to the community by
helping our families and
children across Eastern
North Carolina in need
of the University Health
Systems’ Children’s
Hospital’s services.
